Be prepared

The calendar Ancient Mayans ends on Dec 21 2012. There isn't much information regarding what the Mayans thought will happen in 2012, but the consensus of opinion is that there will be a great change. To some people this means a positive, spiritual change. Others consider that some catastrophic events may have been predicted.

It is impossible to say if something bad will happen in 2012 or not. Nobody really knows. Most home owners have fire insurance, even though they do not expect their house to ever burn. They have it because losing their home and contents would be devastating, and insurance is quite cheap.
Unfortunately it is not possible to get an insurance policy that covers a global cataclysm in 2012 but there are few actions we can take in order to be somehow protected and face the 21st of December 2012 in a positive way.
During the coming years we’ll encounter several problems and, in order to survive and to avoid that our civilization will be turned into dust, we must take all the necessary measures beforehand.

The top priority will be to boost our physical and mental health…the soonest we start with a well planned program the best it is. Do not forget that improving our quality of life will help us to be stronger and to easily cope with any kind of problems.

Hereafter some tips and recommendations:

- Aerobic exercises: Aerobic exercise helps push the heart and circulatory system further than the easy pace of many every day activities. This stress forces the body to adapt causing many changes which benefit us in a lot of ways. The health benefits we gain from aerobic exercise are important, not only does this type of exercise help control weight, it also limits the chances of developing many common illness and diseases. Aerobically and quite intensely exercise at least 2 times a day for only about 5-10 minutes each. If you can go outside to do this, the benefits of the fresh air and colder temperature will make it even better.

-Eat healthy food. Boost your immunity and improve your health and your natural defenses through a good diet.
Incorporate these 5 healthy foods into your diet: Leafy greens, Olive oil, Flaxseeds (Flaxseeds are rich in fiber, which lowers cholesterol), Oatmeal, Tea

-Eat natural, homeopathic, herbal remedies for your general health
General health products that are natural, herbal and homeopathic remedies for emotional and mental well being.
Herbal formulas have long been associated with good health and longevity. Using herbal products will boost your energy levels and your immune system, cleanse and detoxify your system, all to keep you stronger and healthier and fight off those seasonal issues. Maintaining your overall health and well being can involve treating everything from colds, flues, cuts, scrapes, pain, and infections.

-Improve your quality of life 1
Hereafter 10 suggestions (from Marcus Vorwaller)

 1. Think daily. Meditate. Call it what you will but spend time each day alone with your thoughts. This surely isn’t the first time you’ve heard that advice, there’s a reason for that! There’s also a reason that this is the first step in the list. Doing the other things in the remaining nine suggestions without taking some time to reflect almost negates any benefit gained elsewhere.

 2. Get in the zone. Not only will these be your most productive moments in life (the 20% of the time where you accomplish 80% of the results) but it will be a boost to your confidence that will alter the decisions you make elsewhere in life.

 3. Make it a point to do something bold every day. Step out of your comfort zone, leave the routine even if for only a second. This might mean talking to someone that you generally wouldn’t talk to or starting a project that you feel intimidated by. There is no need to plan it in advance–though that might help at times, usually though you’ll find a point during the day when ‘two paths diverge in the woods’ and you have the change to take the one less travelled by. Take it.

 4. Learn something new. Pick a topic, preferably something you know nothing about and learn something about it. A good source of inspiration for this can be the newspaper or Wikipedia. It helps to retain it if you have time to make a note of what you learned or explain it to someone else, but even if you don’t get the chance to do that, your brain will thank you for the new patterns you introduce as you learn something new every day.

 5. Debate something. If you think you know about something, nothing will prove it like arguing it with someone who’s smarter or more informed than you. Find a friend you can debate with who has ideas that are different from your and who won’t be offended by debating them–this is easier said than done, but it can provide you with some of the best mental stimulation possible.

 6. Spend time with a child. If you have one, consider yourself lucky, if you don’t, I bet you have friends who would be happy to let you borrow theirs for a few minutes (or hours). It doesn’t matter what age they are, children see the world entirely different. Look at it from their eyes. Be their hero. Appreciate what they appreciate. Enjoy the simple things again. You’ll love it and they’ll love you for it.

 7. Go outside. If you don’t naturally spend time outside, make it a point to do it more. There’s something about the expanse of the sky that will bring out your inner philosopher.

 8. Recognize what makes you happy. Reflect on the parts of your day that bring you real satisfaction. Everyone is working towards something, but what makes you happy now? Rate your overall satisfaction with your quality of life for each day on a scale of 1 to 10, focus on the things that happened that pushed the number higher rather than what made it lower. Try to incorporate more of what made you happy yesterday into today.

 9. Stop broken thoughts. Broken thoughts are those subtle patterns that aren’t quite big enough to fall into the bad habits category. This means that despite their harmful effect they often escape under the radar. Broken thoughts often take the form of justifications. Examples? I’m just going to leave my dish here by the sink, I’ll wash it later (when you know your spouse will end up washing it). I’m bookmarking this article to read later (how often do you ever go back and read old bookmarked articles?). I’ll hang my shirt up later (when you know it will be there for a week before you touch it).

10. Don’t stress about it.

Suggestions from Sharon Nicholson

The following is a short list of way you can begin to improve your life. The advice given is that of a researcher on Hepatitis C, not a doctor. These tips are to be used in conjunction with your own physicians advice.

Eat a very-low-protein, low-fat diet. Digesting protein puts an inordinate workload on the liver, so it is recommended by some dietary experts that you should greatly limit your intake of concentrated protein foods, such as meat, fish, and dairy products. Eat plenty of starches, vegetables, and fruits.

Drink green teas. Many available are rich in herbs that have a soothing effect. Often you can drink a cup and fill up on tea, be careful to always eat nutritiously. Don't ever skip meals if you can help it. You need to work refueling your system everyday.

Avoid all alcohol and tobacco products. Alcohol is toxic to the liver and can accelerate liver disease leading to cirrhosis, while smoking takes a major toll on the immune system.

Try to avoid all drugs, whether prescribed, over-the-counter, or illegal. Most drugs are metabolized by the liver. Even common painkillers such as acetaminophen (Tylenol), when combined with alcohol, have been shown in studies to cause severe liver damage. If you're taking prescription drugs, ask your doctor whether you truly need to stay on them.

Drink plenty of water. Flushing your kidneys with lots of good-quality water (6-8 glasses a day) will allow your body's purification system to do its job and take some of the workload of detoxification off of the liver.

Take frequent steam baths or saunas. Sweating helps the body eliminate toxins and also reduces the liver's workload. Be sure to replace lost fluids by drinking plenty of pure water at the same time.

Get plenty of rest. Give your immune system an edge by cutting down on unnecessary expenditures of energy.

Exercise a couple of times a week. It is difficult to move about sometimes, especially when you are feeling fatigued but it can be very helpful to start off slowly by doing some activity every other day. A short walk can help your system work more efficiently.

Avoid exposure to chemical fumes and vapors (such as gasoline and solvents) as well as pesticides and herbicides. The liver bears most of the burden of metabolizing and detoxifying unwanted substances that enter the body. Toxins of any kind weaken immunity and make the body more susceptible to infections and disease.

Take the liver-protective herb Milk thistle. European research shows that extracts of the seeds of milk thistle (Silybum marianum) stimulate regeneration of liver cells. You'll find this product in most health-food stores. Many physicians don't tell you about the herbs that are out there because the big pharmaceutical companies don't sell them, therefore are not on the doctors list of medicines. Some doctors go so far as to say that there is no helpful herbs for treating Hepatitis C. See your doctor before taking any medicine or herb. A few have been found to be toxic in large doses.

Find a support group. Ask your doctor if your local hospital sponsors a weekly or monthly meeting. Or call the Center for Disease Control for a referal. Sometimes it's a lifesaver to chat with someone who has direct experience in what your feeling. There are several online communities. Using the Internet you can literally span the world to find others to discuss Hepatitis C topics with. For a list of wonderful links to go to, see the websites to your right.
